The world can change seemingly overnight, and the business world is no different. The Covid-19 pandemic proved this to us. Many business trends are around for years, bubbling beneath the surface while the innovators get rich, before they are adopted by the masses, and many businesses lose out. For example, many of the business owners who were not aligned with trends that have existed for years, such as e-commerce, sadly crashed and burned when Covid-19 hit.
In a world that is still unsettled by the ongoing pandemic chaos, it’s time to batten down the hatches, ignore the drama and learn about the business trends for 2022 to get ahead of the game. Here are four trends I think are worth knowing about this year.
1. Cryptocurrency Will Be King
If you’re not offering consumers the opportunity to pay for goods with cryptocurrency in your e-commerce store, you could be losing out on sales. Read that again, because like it or not, cryptocurrency is probably the future of the world.
The cryptocurrency realm is booming. An investment in Shiba Inu coin made two New York brothers multimillionaires in 2021. And it’s been predicted that in 2022, cryptocurrency will become more widely accepted as a payment source. A number of large companies are already accepting Bitcoin payments.
Don’t get caught with your proverbial business pants down in 2022 like many business owners who didn’t already have an e-commerce presence when the pandemic hit. Get ahead of the game.
2. Sustainability Is A Must
In this new era of conscious consumption, many consumers are opting for sustainable brands over not-so-eco-friendly ones. Any business who thinks sustainability only applies to fashion brands may soon get a rude awakening. It’s kind of like how the anti-fur movement has led many fashion brands to stop using real fur. Don’t get left behind.
3. Authenticity Is Everything
The world changes quickly (ahem, Covid), so you must keep up with the movement. Today’s consumers want to buy from, and follow, brands that resonate with them over others that don’t. To achieve that resonance, I cannot stress enough the importance of being authentic. That involves telling your story and being true to your mission.
4. AI Is The New World Order
Many think that artificial intelligence is related to those goggles you wear to access a virtual reality world. It’s so much more than that. The metaverse is coming, along with AI cybersecurity, autonomous vehicles and much more. A simple step to becoming AI-friendly is installing a chatbot on your e-commerce website. And we used to laugh at those who said the future would be flying cars. …
Being a small-business owner, it can be overwhelming just to keep your Instagram schedule on track — I know. But staying up-to-date with business trends in 2022 and beyond is imperative for your business to survive. Those who stay one step ahead and act as innovators or early adaptors will always remain the rulers of the business realm. Don’t be a laggard and risk sinking into the abyss.
